Kia ora, nice to meet you! If you are reading this you are probably wanting to know a little about me. I live with my husband and two young boys in Otēpoti, NZ. I am a qualified Sign Language Interpreter that graduated at the end of 2010.
I consider myself having a wide range of experience working in various domains. I have a strong work ethic and I appreciate professionalism. I am a capable and confident interpreter who is just as comfortable working in front of hundreds as I am one on one. I am happy to drive as far north as Oamaru, as far west as Queenstown, as far south as Bluff and everything in between.
I have an entrepreneur spirit and I love having my own business. I enjoy working as an interpreter for many reasons but the most important one to me is seeing how empowered clients feel when they are able to communicate effectively with each other. I believe that everyone has a right to access information in their first or preferred language. Interpreting services should be delivered by qualified, skilled professionals, who respect their clients right to privacy and autonomy.
I am a full member of the Sign Language Interpreters Association of New Zealand, SLIANZ for short. For the year of 2022-2023 I have been volunteering on the SLIANZ board as a Professional Development Manager. I regularly support my colleagues by volunteering within our professional body.
Below is a summary of my work over the years as an Interpreter and the domains of work I have experience in. In recognition of the fact that we all have our limits, I do not accept any work interpreting court hearings, religious events, music concerts, or funerals. If you need an interpreter for any of the above, I am happy to refer you to other trusted colleagues.
